Ecosystem Engineers for a Flourishing Houston

• Redemptive Lab

Join the TrueWorks team for our first annual fundraising breakfast and hear all about the ways we are working as Ecosystem Engineers in our city.  We long to be the connective tissue in an ecosystem where entrepreneurs, business people and nonprofit leaders are living out their redemptive missions to see the flourishing of Houston.  We hope for a world where we are furthering the development of many ecosystem engineers – living for more than the daily grind, finding community for the journey and reimagining their role in God’s redemptive story.

Ecosystem Engineers are an actual part of the natural world and are species who modify their environments, creating new spaces or changing existing ones.  Their work in the world affects the ecosystem around them by opening up new or changed environments that wouldn’t exist without them.  And those environments help the entire ecosystem!

We’ll be partnering with our friends at Blackwood Farms who know what it means to be ecosystem engineers!  This nonprofit oversees the beautiful Sky Farm on the top of the Post HTX and as teaching farm, are on a mission to model the indispensable role of regenerative food systems in all our lives.  Blackwood Farms will introduce us to the Sky Farm, giving hands-on tours of the space and they will also cater our breakfast!

TrueWorks will share the stories of the ecosystem engineers that have been a part of our programs, consulting and coaching.  And we will hear from our friend in the Houston ecosystem, Matt Morris.  Matt is an advisor and investor with industry expertise in the real estate, financial services and technology sectors.  Matt was the President and CEO of Stewart Information Services Corporation (NYSE: STC) where he served in various executive roles starting in 2004 as Vice President of Planning and Development and ultimately assuming the role of CEO in 2011. Matt currently serves on the board at Stewart (NYSE:STC) as well as the Cornerstone Funds (NYSE: CLM) and (NYSE: CRF). Matt has recently formed Lutroco, LLC targeting purpose driven strategic investment opportunities.

Prior to his time at Stewart, Matt served as the COO and Managing Director of a strategic litigation consulting firm after serving as Director for Choice Ministries/Passion Conferences and Metro Ministries.

Matt was recognized as the gold winner in Executive of the Year, large company category, in the Best in Biz Awards, a Gulf Coast EY Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist and has been recognized in the Swanepoel Power 200 ranking of real estate industry leaders. Matt is a member of the Young Presidents Organization, The C Club of Houston and the CEO Forum. He has served in board positions for various non-profits including the Greater Houston Partnership.
